Cha Parka Kalavidaru is one of the most beloved Tulu comedy drama troupes from Mangaluru founded and led by Dr. Devadas Kapikad - a celebrated actor, director, writer, lyricist and singer popularly known as "Telikeda Bolli", whose decades plus career earned him an honorary doctorate from the University of Mangalore in 2022. The troupe's classic line-up brought together a quartet of comedy legends - Kapikad himself along with Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and Naveen D Padil - whose style is widely credited with sparking a revolution in Tulu theatre and inspiring a whole wave of new troupes. Over the years, the team has performed not just across the Tulu coast but for Tulu communities in Dubai, Muscat and the UAE. Known for comedy that doubles as social commentary, Cha Parka has gifted 61 dramas to Tulu audiences - a remarkable feat made even more extraordinary by the fact that Kapikad himself wrote every one of these 61 plays and acted in all 61, cementing him and his team as an institution in the world of Tulu drama.
