Chaithanya Kalavidaru is a homegrown Tulu drama troupe from Bailooru, founded and helmed by the renowned actor, director, playwright and cinema dialogue writer Prasanna Shetty Bailooru. Born some eleven years ago from a simple yet stirring dream to hand local talent a stage and let it shine, the troupe has grown into a cradle for coastal artistry. Prasanna Shetty pens and directs every single production himself, breathing a distinct voice into each play while quietly shaping the artists who bring it to life. Among these works, Ashtami and Raghu Mastru shine brightest, winning the team wide acclaim and standing as genuine, lasting contributions to Tulu theatre. It was on this very stage that the beloved late comedian Rakesh Poojary Hoode took his first tentative steps, before soaring to fame through hits like Bale Telipale and clinching the Comedy Kiladis Season 3 crown on Zee Kannada, a legacy that mirrors the troupe's abiding devotion to nurturing grassroots talent.
