Abhinaya Kalavidaru Udupi is one of the leading theatre groups dedicated to promoting the rich traditions of Tulu and Kannada drama. Since its inception, the team has been committed to preserving cultural heritage, nurturing new talent, and presenting meaningful theatrical performances that entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. What began as a small group of passionate artists has today grown into a respected theatre organization with more than fifty members and a remarkable journey of over 800 stage performances. Our Beginning The journey of Abhinaya Kalavidaru Udupi began in 2013, when six passionate artists came together to participate in the television comedy competition "Bale Telipale." Their outstanding teamwork, creativity, and dedication laid the foundation for what would become one of the most recognized theatre groups in the region. Encouraged by the overwhelming response and driven by their love for the performing arts, the group officially transformed into a full-fledged theatre company in 2015, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in its artistic journey. Our Growth From a team of just six members, Abhinaya Kalavidaru Udupi has grown into a vibrant family of more than fifty artists and members, including actors, actresses, directors, writers, technicians, musicians, stage designers, and dedicated volunteers. The group believes in encouraging young talent by providing opportunities to perform alongside experienced artists while continuously striving to raise the standards of Tulu and Kannada theatre. Our Productions Over the years, Abhinaya Kalavidaru Udupi has proudly produced a series of successful and widely appreciated Tulu and Kannada stage plays, including: • Ennini Bethe Ayini Bethe • 3D • Barande Kullaye • Onchi Thoopini • Itthe Gottapuji • Shambhavi • Chitte Each production reflects the team's commitment to quality storytelling, engaging performances, meaningful themes, and high production values. These plays have entertained audiences of all ages while celebrating the rich cultural traditions of coastal Karnataka. Major Achievements Among the group's many successful productions, "Barande Kullaye" has achieved an outstanding milestone by completing more than 150 performances, making it one of the team's most celebrated productions. Another landmark production, "Shambhavi," has crossed more than 250 successful performances, creating a significant impact on both Tulu and Kannada theatre. The play has been widely appreciated for its powerful storyline, exceptional performances, artistic direction, and technical excellence, earning praise from audiences and theatre enthusiasts alike. Our Journey Since becoming a theatre group in 2015, Abhinaya Kalavidaru Udupi has successfully staged more than 800 performances in both Tulu and Kannada. Every performance reflects the team's dedication to artistic excellence, disciplined teamwork, and continuous innovation. The overwhelming love and encouragement received from audiences have inspired the group to keep exploring new themes and producing memorable theatrical experiences.
